Katsina anti-corruption commission arrests permanent secretary, five others over N136M fraud

The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Alhaji Muheeb Ibrahim Bamidele, the former Permanent Secretary of the Department of Banking and Finance and current Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, alongside five other individuals in connection with an alleged fraud of N136,126,970.

In a press release signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Dr. Jamilu M. Abdulsalam, it was revealed that the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the misappropriation of funds from the Department of Banking and Finance's account. The alleged fraudulent activities are believed to have occurred during Alhaji Bamidele’s tenure as Permanent Secretary of the department.

According to the Commission, the arrests mark a significant step in ensuring accountability and transparency in the state’s public service. Investigators are said to be working diligently to uncover the full extent of the alleged financial misconduct and to bring those responsible to justice.

The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has emphasized its commitment to combating corruption at all levels of government, noting that no individual, regardless of their position, is above the law.
